Summer Fun
Well - I'm VERY behind on blogging - so let me provide a brief synopsis of our summer! At the very beginning of summer break, my cousin Clancy and husband David came to visit and brought their new little baby girl Dylan (see in the previous post below on swing with Isaac, Lorelye, Rylee and Caden). We all became very attached and were so sad to see them leave. The following Sunday, Rylee and I headed to Georgia so Rylee could attend music camp (in picture with friends from camp below). I stayed and kept Isaac (and Caden) while Maria and Jason taught classes and took Rylee to class. Rylee enjoyed it so much that she went back without me for the second week and stayed with Jason and Maria - this was the longest Rylee has been away from home, so a big experience for all of us. Caden and I took a trip to Monkey Joe's with the preschool kids from church while Rylee was gone to camp. During that week, our good friends Heather and Caine had their sweet little girl Cannyn - BEAUTIFUL baby! Steven's cousin Tim came in from Nevada to visit for the 4th of July. His family got together at our house for a cookout while Tim was in town. Rylee took swimming lessons again this summer - she was in the intermediate class for the first year. We had season passes to Carowinds, so we went 4 or 5 times. We actually camped at the nearby campground with Buffy and Scott and the girls for several nights and made sure we got our money's worth out of the passes :)! Bible School was in mid-July at our church - Boomerang Express! This was Caden's first year to have a class - both kids LOVED going each night and learned tons. The first week in August, we went to Oak Island with my parents and the whole family. The babies LOVED the beach - I'll post pictures in my newest post to follow. Steven and I celebrated our 8th wedding anniversary on August 4th. Since we were at the beach, my parents volunteered to keep the kids while we drove to Southport for dinner and a movie. The last 2 weeks of summer always ends for us with the traditional Balls Creek Campmeeting. Sunday will be the last day for us to attend. The kids have REALLY loved it this year - hanging out with their cousins, visiting the shack and buying toys, and playing out on the porch. For one final summer event, Steven decided to set up a tent in the backyard the other night and let the kids have a "campout". While I slept VERY LITTLE that night, the kids LOVED it - Buffy/Scott and the girls joined us, too! Now, it's time to head back to school! I can't believe the summer has come and gone so quickly!
