For Mother's Day dinner, we ate at my parents house - grilled hamburgers and hotdogs. Mamaw Ocie (dad's mom) was over to join us. Because it was pouring down rain, Steven, Jason, and Adam worked on preparing the meat at our house in the garage while we (mom, dad, Mamaw, Maria, Jill, Alice, me, and the kids) waited patiently at mom's. After about an hour of waiting, we called to see what was taking so long. Apparently, the gas ran out soon after the grilling began, so the boys had to go out and get a new gas tank! We did FINALLY get to eat, though - I guess waiting did make the food taste better! Mom also made strawberry pies for dessert - my favorite!
I am so thankful for all the mothers in my life - I was blessed with an amazing grandmother who passed away 2 weeks after my wedding - Mamaw Edna. I'm very blessed to still have Mamaw Ocie in my life. My mother has been the perfect role model of what a mother should be - I have some HUGE shoes to fill. I am also quite fortunate to have a wonderful mother-in-law.
