A night at our house
Rylee's hobbies: playing princess, playing teacher, playing mom, playing waitress, playing sales associate, reading, practicing phonics activites and pre-math skills - basically, pretending to be an adult!
Caden's hobbies: banging on toys (or decorative pieces/pieces of furniture), jumping off furniture (as high off the ground as possible), throwing things, watching the Noggin channel, running, pushing toys, picking up interesting things, playing in the sand - basically, acting like a wild boy!
After play, Rylee and Caden enjoy a bath together - this has been one of the greatest things about being a mother of two children so close in age - they entertain each other very well at bath time. With a tub full of bubbles and some bath toys, I actually get to take a few minutes to myself with no children pulling at my legs. An occasional fight does occur, but fights are typically resolved more quickly during bath time.
Bedtime - wow!!! This has always been a challenge for our kids. Since birth, Rylee has been a very needy child when it comes to bedtime! Caden started out pretty easy; however, he quickly learned that mom, dad, Callie (our dog), and Rylee were all in one place and that he wasn't with us during this time! He decided that he should be needy at bedtime, too. For a while, trying anything possible to get sleep, we allowed both our kids to sleep with us (we did purchase a king-sized bed once Caden had to join us). About six months ago, we decided that we had to enforce better bedtime habits (more for the sake of being comfortable than to improve our parenting skills). Rylee and Caden started sleeping together in Rylee's bed. Of course, they are lured to bed with a bedtime movie and typically joined by a parent until they enter into a deep sleep. In case any of you are wondering, we haven't yet been nominated for parents of the year due to our bedtime parenting techinques, but I'm sure that's soon to come :-)!!!!

Oh Jama, you are so funny! Luckily Chase has always been really easy to put to bed, no whether that is our parenting skills, or just him, who knows. Now we get to see how Julianna will turn out!
I can't wait for them to be able to take baths together. That looks like fun! And a much needed break for mom!
